CENSUS is a periodic survey of artists and curators in the North West region and a way
for PROFORMA to map activity and practices. CENSUS takes the form of remote interviews, studio visits where possible, informal crits and/or general catch up to discuss your work
For April - June 2021 we are changing CENSUS. Successful applicants will be paid £50
for a 1hr session with PROFORMA director Chris Bailkoski and a leading Artist or Curator. There will also be a free follow up session in order to evaluate participants progress.

On 8th April our CENSUS guest is artist Jo Clements
Jo Clements is a fine artist based in Manchester. She
has a fine art, practice based PhD which examined
artists interaction with regional and online film archives
and continues to explore archival materials with a focus
on the potential for re-interpretation through new

programme and continues to support artists nationally
through individual coaching and mentoring as well as
and Castlefield Gallery, Manchester. She was the overall
winner of the Greater Manchester Arts Prize 2018 and was on the selection panel for the
2019 prize. Clements recently left HE to concentrate exclusively on her coaching and arts
- CENSUS is open to North West based artists and curators from any discipline and
- Participants are currently selected on a first come first served basis
- Where demand is greater than the dates we have available, we will endeavour to
contact all applicants directly and offer feedback relating to their answers to the
questions outlined above
