(The Dancehouse 2018)
Omid Asadi is a former engineer and champion boxer from Iran, now an artist based in UK. He practices different disciplines through his art to investigate complex issues concerning identity. His works deal with tangled emotions of self-alienation, loss and frustration as result of immigration and conflict. Recent works are inspired by Michel Foucault theories and study the different aspects of control and human identity through different disciplines. Even though you can trace Omid’s works in specific socio-political situations but there are always more into it. Growing up in Iran, he is influenced by the rich Persian literature thus sometime his poetic approach in making art is sensible.
